This effect was due to the use of watercolors and watercolor paper :з

The ONLY, and only other thing, is that the lack of shading on the upper feathers, which slightly throws off the other shading

also very very good, but the fabric of her dress loses form at certain parts, and the right arm seems slightly disproportional

Proportional arms are too mainstream anyway.

but try to try to keep the waist proportional to the torso, and try to focus on adding better composition to the background

The waist IS proportional. It's a side-view, and if you don't think it looks good enough you could have said so.
